[00:00:00] Oh, do you have your Ringmaster costume on? Hey, step right up to another podcast! The Amazing Podcast along with Lobster Man! Hands and feet like a lobster! True fact, I saw that. It's worse than clowns. It's far worse!

[00:00:29] Welcome everybody to Midnight Cinema, your deep dive into horror movies, sci-fi films, cult classics, new and old. Warning everybody, there are spoilers ahead. I am Art Hennessey in San Diego, California. Oh, and I'm Erik in Big Top Salem, Salem, Massachusetts. Three Ring Circus right here.

[00:00:53] Yeah, Hot Three Ring Circus. I know you're in California, but you don't have humidity like we do, so I'm already sweaty. Yeah, I had to close my windows, turn off the air conditioning here too, because we're recording and it's, yeah, it can get steamy. So this will be a steamy one in our Big Top here today, Erik. Oh, yeah. Big Top? Why are you clowning around, Art? I'm clowning around because today, Erik, we are talking about a stone cold classic movie.

[00:01:21] A stone cold classic? Ah, we are talking about Killer Clowns from Outer Space. It was released in 1988, Erik. 1988? Yeah, it was directed by Steven Kyoto. I had to look up the pronunciation because it doesn't sound like it's written. It stars Grant Kramer, Suzanne Snyder, John Allen Nelson, Royal Dano, and John Vernon. There you go! Yeah, from Animal House. Oh, gosh. Whoa.

[00:01:51] Correct. We're going to talk about him. Yeah. So, Erik, Killer Clowns from Outer Space, I want to be clear for everybody who's just listening, it's killer with a K and clown with a K, because that's the way you have to do it. That's the only way you can do it. If you're listening to this, I want to know if you've seen the movie in the theater, because you probably didn't. Because, Erik, I think it made $25 on its theatrical release, so I don't think a lot of people saw it in the theaters.

[00:02:19] But I'll ask you, Erik, did you see this in the theaters? You probably didn't, but I'm sure you saw VHS, right? Oh, yeah. I was like, what is this? Yes. I couldn't appreciate it when I first saw it, to be honest. I couldn't. It was too like, what, for me? But now, just like everybody else, I'm on the Killer Clowns circus wagon. Okay. Because there is a hive out there, Erik, could we call it? Like a K-Clown hive.

[00:02:49] I saw a shirt today, I think, for a K-Clown. Oh, great. It's even a video game now. It's like two years old. Yes. Have you played it? I was going to try to play it before our podcast, but I couldn't get onto it. I can't play video games, Art, because I wouldn't be doing a podcast or much of anything else. I know my limits. I'm like, nope. Eric, this movie, it is a first watch for me. What? Yes. Are you clowning around right now?

[00:03:14] I'm not, Eric. First time watch for me. This will explain everything, Eric. I love that. This release falls right in what you and I call my cinema douchebag era. Oh. I'm at college. Oh. I'm watching old movies at rep theaters. I'm, yeah. There is no way at this point that I am renting killer clowns from outer space. There's just. Oh, I think I have a sound effect for you waiting.

[00:03:44] Wow. Everybody, Art. Art was a snob a while ago. And he wouldn't watch this. But now. Pushing those glasses up on my nose so hard. Well, why, Art? What's it about? What's the reason why you wouldn't watch a movie called Killer Clowns from Outer Space? Okay, Eric. I'd be running. Yeah. In the small town of Crescent Cove, Mike and Debbie, they're just trying to have some intimate time on Lover's Lane when suddenly a meteor crashes. But this isn't an ordinary meteor.

[00:04:13] It might be a vessel from another world. And its crew might look like funny clowns. But they have very evil intentions for the people of this town. When the mayhem starts increasing, Mike and Debbie must join forces with a rookie police officer and the ice cream men in a race to find out the truth and save the world from these killer clowns from outer space. Oh! Now, why, Art? Straight out of, you know, movie critique 101.

[00:04:42] Why wouldn't you see something like that? That sounds awesome. Clowns from outer space that are trying to get you? Eric, I think what I find so charming now, the two Ks, I think probably turned me off then. You're probably like, oh, that's not how it's spelled. Blah, blah, blah, blah. I love your imitation of me in that era. That's how you sound. You do a lot of different imitations of me in that era. Yeah. There's the one where you make your voice really high. Yeah. Well, that's when you're explaining it. And there's one where I'm like a bluff sort of Dickensian Carol.

[00:05:13] Yes. But I would never watch something so tastefully unacceptable. So, Eric, we're going to dive in here in a second, but I just want to say this is one of those movies. We've done them before, which it started basically from a couple of guys, brothers, Kyoto brothers that had a special effects house. They're basically starting to get a, they want to get their special effects operation off the ground. Give it a showcase, right? They had done some stuff.

[00:05:40] And so this movie is basically them going, we want to show off what we could do here. And they put this movie together. So we've done a few of those. Special effects for even, you know, it's 88, but their creatures, their clowns are awesome and they are iconic now so much that Universal Studios Horror Nights has done a haunted house themes on them. And Spirit Halloween has, you can buy killer clowns.

[00:06:06] So they maybe not have made it at the beginning, but now it's, everybody's like killer clowns. So they're not, it's not, they're not directors, a hundred percent, not directors. Well, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to stand up for them a few times here because I think they know enough to make a good movie. So it is a good, when you take it for what it is, you're like, this is a, this is popcorn. This is, this is taffy. Ah, popcorn, this is popcorn. Yeah. Woo. All right.

[00:06:35] It's a bunch of cotton candy, but if you like cotton candy, you'll love it. Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom. And obviously before we jump in, I just want to say to everybody listening, you can tell Eric and I are kind of into this movie. This movie has a lot of details in it. Eric and I are not going to be able to mention half of them. So there's a lot to see if you want to check out killer clowns. Yeah. Do it. And then, then listen to this because I think it's worth it. So Eric, we're going to open here, shot a space and we're going to lower down to see

[00:07:05] the big top burgers here in Crescent Cove. And we're getting a soundtrack here, a song, right? Mm-hmm. Uh, and it's kind of catchy, but I don't, I haven't seen it enough now to get the two, but the lyrics are stuff like- Oh, you haven't? P.T. Barnum said it so long ago. There's one born every minute as you know. Right. P.T. Barnum said so long ago. There's one born every minute as you know.

[00:07:35] Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom. And in the trivia, of course, the people writing the song hadn't seen the movie yet or anything before they wrote the song. Right. The something, something killer clown, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom. It's not for me. They should have saved this song to the end because you hear it again, but I don't think it kind of mixed up the montage of the town. You're like, why are they playing this? Right. And you see this cop, this pissy cop. Oh. Driving around looking for punk kids. Officer Kurt Moody.

[00:08:05] Yeah. Kurt Moody. This is Vernon. Right? Yep. This is Dean Vernon. Animal House. Ooh. Yep. Yes. He wasn't a lot of stuff, but pretty much he's the spice in a movie. He's the, the supporting character, the color. Yeah. He's very specific. This guy. They always talks like this. You're out. You're expelled. He was the guy in the original Dirty Harry.

[00:08:34] He was the mayor giving Dirty Harry a hard time. There you go. He's giving people a hard time here. He just, he's looking for trouble, looking for, to grab teenagers. Yeah. He's just rolling his eyes. And he, even to the point, Eric, he stops at a crosswalk and a guy is crossing the crosswalk with an amazing amount of alcohol. Yeah. In case you didn't know it says beer on it. But Rooney's like, oh, this guy. Oh, these young people. And I'm like, what did he do?

[00:09:03] What did this guy do that he's so angry? He just hates him. He hates him. He hates him. Yeah. You're all smoochy poochy up the top of the world. So I guess the song was on the radio. Killer clowns. And that was another one from like, okay, what?

[00:09:34] They all, I mean, they may, we're introducing main characters. Remember the guy with a beer? He's there making out somewhere. Yeah. Everybody's sort of making out except for our main characters. They're not really making out too much. Mike and Debbie. We meet them. Yes. And fun fact, Debbie, I didn't even realize it, but Debbie is one of the girlfriend in Weird Science. Yeah. I was like, what? I was going to say, Debbie here, the actor, Suzanne Snyder might have a chance at a popcorn

[00:10:04] bucket award in the future. Oh, we're going to have to talk about that later. She's in Night of the Creeps. Night of the Creeps? And she's in The Return of the Living Dead Part 2. She plays Brenda. Yeah. So, but it'll be tough for her, Eric, because we're not really a sequel podcast. We don't really go into too many. Well, we're going to do Return of the Living Dead. Don't you guys worry. Don't you worry. So we meet them. They're a young couple. They're up there, Lover's Lane. And then an ice cream truck drives onto Lover's Lane.

[00:10:34] Do you say ice cream truck? Truck. Have you been drinking again? Everybody, Art drinks right before the podcast. He gets plastered on Diet Pepsi. An ice cream truck rolls in. Yeah. I always want to say the Frinelli Brothers from Ghostbusters. It's the Frinelli Brothers. I put them away for life. It's the Terenzi Brothers, right? Yeah. Same thing. Yeah.

[00:10:59] And why would you, these two are, it is just that the characters are just silly, stupid. Like they're not even real people. You know what I mean? There's like, oh. And they start trying to pedal their ice cream at Lover's Lane. We brought our ice cream up to you. A tasty treat while you screw. Like they're doing like rhymes like that. What do we have for ice cream? What do you got? They had all kinds of, I thought you were going to get it.

[00:11:27] They got, we got chocolotties and coconutties. And then they started, it was like, we got the one, you know, and you lick the stick. Yeah. Lick the stick. Lick the stick. I was trying to think of all kinds of jokey ice creams that they could have. And they're like, no, we got all knobs. We got, we got squeezy cones. We got the hard rocket. We got, we got wait for the goo. And Eric, at the bottom of the hard rocket, there's a, there's balls.

[00:11:57] There's a, that's the juice at the end. Oh, stop it. What are you doing? They started it. They did. And they're like, one of them is like, nobody wants ice cream. This is a stupid idea. They rented an ice cream truck to go up to Lover's Lane. Yeah. Over the intercom. Yeah. Yeah. It's not their job, right? It's. No, they rented. This was like a get rich quick scheme. I think they, they did this, but they brought along two women that they, that they were hoping

[00:12:25] to impress with their ice cream truck. My God. And it's the eighties, you know, so they have to be over, over with large women. Yeah. Eating lots of ice cream and like, Hey, wait a minute. They take off. So Mike and Debbie are in the back of the truck because Mike knows these guys. Mike is like all those, those guys, the Terenzi brothers. I love them. And then he turns back to, I don't know if he's trying to make them.

[00:12:53] I don't, this, this is very weird because they're not really making out. They're lying in a big inflatable boat in the back of his truck. It doesn't look too comfortable, but. Yeah. It's inflatable raft is correct. I, I never tried that, but. No, they're sort of making out, but they're not. But they seem more intent on looking at the stars and stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but. A meteor. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. And they want to go check it out.

[00:13:23] And so, but the guy's likable. He's an idiot and she's just talks like that all the time, but she seems smarter than him. He's kind of a dope. By design. Apparently when I read interviews, they said they wanted to make it that the woman was the one who's putting everything together and is a little sharper on stuff. So, um, so Mike and Debbie are like, Whoa, look at it. They're almost like a 12 year old. I would, I would have gone to check it out. They're going to go check it out. But before they get there, this thing goes down right near the classic.

[00:13:53] We see this in a lot of movies. Eric is a farmer with his dog out on the porch or something. He's in the woods at his cabin. Yep. And boy, this is a guy right out of, uh, central casting. Right. He's. Yep. And his dog poo bear. He's like, Oh, look at that. Chaley's comment. We're going to be rich. I like it. For some reason. He just thinks because it landed in his backyard that he's going to be rich.

[00:14:20] He's like, we're going to get, we're going to have popcorn and hot dogs and tacos. Uh, by the way, just want to mention this is Royal. They know basically probably the guy who's worked the most in this whole movie. He, every Western you watch, he's in this guy. Yep. And he's also, um, you might know this when you go to the hall of presidents at Disney and you hear Abraham Lincoln talking, it's Royal Dano. That'd be awesome.

[00:14:49] If he did Abraham Lincoln, like he's doing this character. Oh, we scored seven years ago. We, we got tacos. Didn't we poo bear? Well, he goes to check it out, Eric. And when he goes into the woods, it's not a meteor there. It's very strange what he sees. Yeah. It's a tent. It's a circus tent, but it is, it is glowing. So it doesn't quite look like it's made out of tent material, but it's just glowing what you would define as a circus tent. So red, I think it's red and yellow. I liked this.

[00:15:19] I was like watching and I'm like, I like this imagery. I like the way it looks. It's cool. What I like is how this guy drops one idea for another. He doesn't give a shit now about the meteor. He's like, Oh boy, a circus. Come on, poo bear. We're going to go. Where's the, where's the ticket booth? He doesn't, he doesn't care anymore. He forgot. He has like short term memory or something. I mean, what are we doing? And while he's walking by the tent, there's, it starts already with weirdness.

[00:15:46] Cause there's a shadow of what looks like a, a big clown, you know, like seven feet tall or something creeping like Nosferatu's shadow. And then the guy walks by a hole appears out of nowhere in the circus tent and the fricking clown, which we see is like weirdly grotesque. It's not like you're a human face. It's, it looks like it's, it's a, it's a puppet almost, but it's really creepy.

[00:16:11] And he has a big ass net, you know, like you used to catch butterflies and he grabs the dog. And the dog's gone. Yeah. Pooh bear is gone. Back inside the tent hole closes up. Yeah. And, uh, our farmer here, he's, he's like, pooh bear, pooh bear. He's looking around and he's all upset. And then the, the circus tent, like tents in real life have these guide wires that are off it.

[00:16:38] You know, like the big things that you stake into the ground, the wires, and he slaps it and he gets shocked. He grabs it and I love that too. Cause he's all mad. And he's like, whoa, this thing's wired. But I will point out, he's all up. He's all excited about the meteor. He's going to make a million bucks. All excited about the circus. He's hoping to get free tickets. All, all upset about his dog. He changes mood so quick because he looks over and there's another crazy looking clown with like a little ray gun.

[00:17:08] And he's like, oh boy. Like he's all excited. Like he doesn't care about the dog gone anymore. Yeah. And he sees the, sees the clown and this is our first full shot is right here. Is this the sort of first clown we see? Well, we saw the one in the tent. Right. Right. Right. This one is they're wearing the typical clown. What you would think is a clown outfit, the one piece with big ass shoes, but their faces are, it's not clown makeup.

[00:17:35] They have, their faces are mutated clown faces with huge lips. They're really freaky. So it's not. Wrinkles on them. I want to point out it's not a person with a clown face, like a serial killer. It looks like a monster clown. Yeah. Like clown people doing makeup might put wrinkles in or smile lines or chubby cheeks or, but these are actual like folds of skin. Yeah.

[00:18:04] And yeah, their lips are really big lips, like almost like big lizard lips. And the cheeks are exaggerated. Like their hair. Yeah. And they get those eyes. It's their skin. Their skin. But their skin has a texture, almost like flaky dried white clown base. It's really well done. It's. And then they have hair that's there.

[00:18:29] That's clearly like clown hair, but, but we're going to see this movie does a variety of these guys. Yep. Lots of them. I didn't expect that actually. And it was kind of. But this one clown, it's got a little ray gun, like a space ray gun, but it looks clowny and it zaps the guy in this like pink light. He's like. And we don't know what happens to him, but he's that's it.

[00:18:57] The dog and the guy gone farmer. Yeah. I guess he's not going to make it rich with tacos. Yep. But we come back to the police station, right? Yeah. We're going to meet Dave is a younger police officer there and Moody doesn't like him. We get that right away. Oh yeah. He brings in new punks. Yeah. He's, he's roughing them up. Oh yeah. He loves it. Moody's like, ah, and we kind of get the dynamic here. This is finally where it gets spelled out.

[00:19:25] Moody's like these rich college kids. They come in here and they think they can run the town and the kids are kind of nice actually. And they're like, Hey, we're just, you know, why, why can't we drink at bars? It's like that. Shut up. He's like manhandling them. Yeah. Dave's like, you gotta, you know, you can arrest people, but you gotta do it by the book. I won't have you beat people up. And Dave's a handsome dude. He's Dave. He's got Ken doll hair. He's Ken. He's basically Ken. Yeah. Right.

[00:19:54] But Moody is like, listen, Mr. Police Academy. And are there only two cops in the entire town? Well, I get the feeling from some dialogue that's dropped, Eric, that the actual chief is away and left Dave in charge. Cause of course a chief is not going to leave. Right. Moody in charge. And so I'm, there's gotta be more than three of them. Yeah. I don't know. Cause it's a small office.

[00:20:22] But it's this, we only have two cops, but he ends up throwing them against the wall and he's going to put them in the holding cell. Yeah. So he's just a jackass. He's, he's not a good guy. Meanwhile, Mike and Debbie are heading looking for the spaceship that they think. And you know what they do? Yeah. They find the tent, the circus tent. And Mike's like, Oh boy. Like, it's not weird at all. In the middle of the woods is a glowing circus tent. And Mike wants to go in and Debbie doesn't.

[00:20:52] Debbie's like, no, this is weird. I don't want to go. But now there's an entrance, a dark opening. So I, I, I have to say, Art, I would go in. I know you would. Would you go in? I know. I would pick up. You would pull me in there too. I would have to follow in. We are going in, Art. I know. I know. Okay. And based on what's in there, I'm still, I'm going to do exactly what they did, which is I would keep going because it looks like some kind of weird fun house inside, but it's a corridor.

[00:21:21] You know, when you go in a circus tent, you're like, Hey, and there's the center ring and everything. There's none of that shit. It's just weird ass architecture. They're playing with colors and different things like that. And pipes that are different colors that look almost like straws. Yeah. Like straws with the things. Yeah. If you go through like one of those carnival rides, like a dark ride, but it's not scary. It's kind of like that. Or Mr. Toad's wild ride at Disney. It's like a. Yeah. And there are buttons around. And when you press the buttons, they go like.

[00:21:52] Wow. That was good. Art. You nailed the sound. Right. That was it. Yeah. Yeah. So of course, who's going to press those buttons at Mike? Mike's going to do it. But now it's, there's these doors, you know, those doors like on spaceships or they're like almost circular open like that. That's what it is. Almost like an elevator or something. Yeah. There's like a bunch of them at the end of the hallway. Yeah. So I'm going in and I know you are. Art's coming in too. So far. So good. Yeah.

[00:22:21] I'm, I'm a hundred percent still going to go in. Well, they go in. They, she's like, this is no fun house. That's what Debbie says. I know. It's like, this is no circus. Yes. Cause they open it. They'll buy. I love to call this the cheap star Wars, uh, Matt painting room. Cause there's a, they basically go through the door and they're on a precipice. Remember Luke and Leah, when they had a swing across that room there, it kind of reminds

[00:22:49] me of that where they can't go anywhere, but there's one of, you know, the plasma balls. You ever have one of those art? Yeah. Almost like a Tesla coil, like inside the ball. Right. Yeah. I had so many of those. I think I still have one in one of your attractions. Probably. Yeah. Like a world of wizardry. You have a. Yes. But there's one big one there and it's doing electricity. It just looks cheap, but it's awesome. It's a Matt painting with special effects. So it's. Debbie's very insistent, huh?

[00:23:18] She, she grabs Mike by the collar and she's like, Mike, the shooting star. We're in it. She's put him up against the wall. I love the fact that she's not. But she's the one who's saying, Hey, let's get out of here. This is a spaceship. So I think. Yes. I think this is where maybe art I'd say to you, Hey, let's, let's come back later. I would probably say that. I might say that now because there's a shadow. Okay.

[00:23:48] The shadows come in. I think. Okay. Unless I'm 18 year old, Eric. If I'm 18 year old, Eric, I might do it. They did, which is go through another fricking door and they open up that door. And this is a great room. But you're in that again. You might be like, art, let's go. You get in this room and you'd be like, hold up, hold up, art. Wait, I want to see this. And you go, Eric, don't you see the problem with this room? What? What are you talking about? I know what this room is, art. It's a fricking cotton candy factory. Right.

[00:24:17] Which isn't a thing at all. Yeah. So this room is, is massive again. Huge. Unbelievably big. There's a popcorn popper going sort of popping popcorn. But a big one. Like, you know that sorry button with the game. Sorry. We press the middle. It's like that, except it's huge and filled with popcorn. Mm hmm. Yeah. And then lining the whole place. Almost like, you know, a dry cleaner has those movable racks. There's like layers of these. I want to call them.

[00:24:47] They look like. Describe it. Pink cotton earrings. Like hanging from. Right. Like they're, they're bulbous. I guess. And they hang down. Yeah. If you had a glass earring. Yeah. It's basically a glob of cotton candy on a hook. And it's a big, the room. I have to say the room is mostly empty, but there's a dozen of these or so hanging up. So you're like, wait, what, what's going on? And Debbie and Mike are like that too.

[00:25:17] They're. Well. Yeah. But I think. I think he's wanting to get out of there, but. Yeah. Debbie's like, this is don't. Hey, idiot. This is a UFO right now. We're in a UFO. And Mike's like, no, it's cotton candy. See? And he grabs one of the sacks hanging and he pulls some of the cotton candy away. And there is. Remember our old guy. Mm-hmm. It's his face. Yes. And it's pinky red. And his mouth is open. Oh. Yeah.

[00:25:47] Really good. But I do want to point out that these sacks aren't entirely human size. So this guy's compressed in there. Yes. Because it's shaped like you said, it's shaped like a, almost like a, an eggplant, I guess. And there's a smaller one near him that I think we're supposed to assume. No. Eric is Pooh Bear. Pooh Bear. I think we're, I think we're supposed to assume that. A bloodhound. Yeah. Sorry.

[00:26:14] But then, uh, they're, they're kind of freaked out and then suddenly door opens, Eric, and in comes a clown. Yep. Yeah. And the, the clown is carrying one of those cotton candy things with a hook on it. And the hook is sort of like a coat hanger type of, you know, plastic coat hanger hook type. And he just hangs it up on the rack. And what I love is he goes over to this line of levers, colorful levers with big balls on and he's just gently pushing them.

[00:26:42] And they're going free, fronk, fronk, fronk, fronk. I have no idea what he's doing. Well, it's in front of, it, it seems like he's working the popcorn popper in some way, but there's like nine switches. Like at least nine switches. So we don't know what he's doing. So then Mike, I guess, does he bump one of the cotton candy balls or something? And another face appears that he seems to know. I guess this is from another version of the script. Yeah. It's Joe Lombardo.

[00:27:11] And we're all going, who the hell is Joe Lombardo? On my second watch, Eric, because I was watching it a second time to maybe take some notes. I was like, okay, we didn't hear any Joe Lombardo. We don't know who Joe Lombardo is. Yeah. Like, oh, oh, Joe Lombardo. I don't even know why they included it. Yeah. I think, well, this noise, him yelling is what alerts the clown. So they can't really cut it. Oh, you're right. You're right. Right. Yeah. It alerts the clown that they're there.

[00:27:40] So I think they couldn't cut around that. No, I think you're right. But so they're going to try and get out of there. Run! Run! Escape what you can! But the clown grabs this big-ass weapon, like a big rifle-sized weapon. It looks like a gun that would shoot a big plastic ball. It's got an opening, like big enough to shoot a plastic ball out of, like an eight-inch plastic ball. So I thought it was a cool gun. Yes. Which you probably know was seven grand to make it.

[00:28:08] It was the most expensive thing they said they developed. And I'm trying to figure out why. Well, because was it practical? I guess it shoots. I don't know. Shoots. Because we're going to see the clown chases them and it shoots at them with this gun and it shoots popcorn. It sprays like a whole bunch of popcorn. It misses them. And they get around a corner. But not all the popcorn misses them. It kind of gets on them. It seems like the popcorn's following them. Oh! The popcorn seems to have a mind of its own.

[00:28:37] Because when you shoot it, it shows it going around the corner. That's how it got on them. Okay. Yeah. Because I thought they escaped it around the corner. But then they have some stuck to their hair and the back of their shirts. Yeah. I love when they do the dive out of the tent. Yeah. So they dive out of the tent. And, but... Did you catch art as they're running away? It's like, Debbie goes, popcorn? Why popcorn?

[00:29:05] And the light's like, because they're clones. That's why. And that explains the rest of anything that happens in the movie. Right. You're like, okay, I got it. I got it. And so they come out. And so now we're seeing another clown. We should say, like, they just all have different hair, different outfits, different body shapes. Yep. And their heads are shaped different. Yeah. They're different sizes. Yeah.

[00:29:35] Really all individuals. And they all have these huge, they have three fingers and a thumb. And the hands are Mickey Mouse thick. So they look like puffy gloves, like you'd wear if you were Mickey Mouse. But they are their actual hands because they have fingernails on them. And some of them, you can tell that they really worked with it, Eric. I don't know what they're doing. I guess it's just animatronic, right? It is. Yeah. The eyes and the lips and the ears.

[00:30:05] Even their crazy ass ears. They look like men that are 107 years old would have these ears, you know, like way too big. And their eyes are interesting to me, too, because they're not hyper-realistic eyes. They're almost like glass eyes you would see in a clown, like a porcelain clown or something. Yeah. Like glass eyes. But I thought they were interesting. They're amazing.

[00:30:31] And I guess this is the time to point out their teeth because they have a row of teeth, like way too many teeth. And they're all jagged and spaced out. And I mean, they look like they're carnivores is what it looks like. Yeah. People who have clown phobia, this is not the movie. Not for you. For them. No. No. Pennywise got nothing on these guys. No. No. And so. But this is. Okay.

[00:31:00] I want you to take it because this was great. I did not see this coming. I'm. Yeah. You just saw them shoot a popcorn gun. Uh, now one of them has a balloon for balloon animals. Really long one. And he just goes. I mean, it's three fingers. Yes. Really fast. So they're really good at it. And he makes a really, the world's longest, uh, balloon dog animal.

[00:31:28] And he puts it on a leash and that it's alive now. And it's awesome because the clown actor is just holding a prop, but it's going. So now I'm thinking. What are they magic? Yeah. Well, uh, you're thinking, are they magic? And I'm, I'm getting on board with the movie, Eric, at this point, I'm like, oh, they're going to use every carnival clown idea that they can get.

[00:31:58] Into this movie. I said, I think I, I think I'm understanding what this is. Yeah. They don't. They're like, here's the movie. Everybody. Yes. Clowns. It's a spaceship tent. They're caught in candy and there's people inside it. So apparently they're putting people in cotton candy. They got a popcorn gun and now they use balloon animal dogs to hunt down people. It's great. Cause I think it's a combination, Eric. It looked like a, of sort of stop motion. And then sometimes just moving the animal. Like it's, it's.

[00:32:27] All they did was they, they had it on the. On. It was practical. Like, yeah. And then the, they use a rope, like a thin wire, because there's one point where the dog is sniffing the ground and then it just raises its head up and goes, but it's practical. And they had to, uh, I, I did read, they had to reinforce the bottoms of it because they kept popping on the pine needles. That's the thing you probably would do. I would think. Yeah. But I love that they use the actual balloon animal.

[00:32:57] Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but, but they, they get away. Mike and Debbie take off in the car. They, they flatten the balloon animal. They run the balloon animal over and they hit the two clowns. The two clowns fall down. But as Mike and Debbie are driving away, I love this. The clowns sit up one after the other in the Michael Myers sit up. They, they sit up. It's going to be a sting there. I think it does a little like the Michael Myers. Yeah.

[00:33:28] And then we get the shot of Crescent Cove, five miles. Five miles. I know. I was like, wow. That's a big sign. And then we start to see that there are a lot of clowns. They're walking and we get the theme, Eric. Yep. Right. What's the theme? Can you do it? It's really catchy. I found myself humming it a lot. Yeah. It's really good. And the clowns are walking. They're very creepy.

[00:33:56] And one of them turns back to the others and goes. So, so they're clearly aliens. Yes. And I'm thinking at the rate they're walking five miles, they're not getting to the town anytime soon unless they have other transportation. And here's something you probably noticed too. Watching them, the way they move, I said, okay, they have to walk in these big ass shoes, practically, the actors.

[00:34:22] But they did say, okay, how do we do this so we don't just look clumsy walking in big shoes? They figured out a way at least to kind of make their movements have something other than we have to walk in big shoes. Yeah. I think they pulled it off big time. In an interesting way. Yeah. And also you're noticing the size differences again, Eric. Like some are really tall. Some of these guys. Yeah. So, yeah. A lot of people. Yeah. A lot of people afraid of clowns. Just, I know you brought that up.

[00:34:51] And speaking of clowns. Yes. I'm the clown in this relationship. My wife, Orsena, is here. Oh, yeah. Hi, Lola. Hi, everybody. Hi, Art. Hey. Hi. We're doing Killer Clowns from Outer Space. It's one of your favorite movies. Yeah. Another one I haven't seen. Oh. Oh. I hadn't seen it until this week either. Art hasn't seen it either. I hadn't seen it until this week. Because you can't. No. Just scared of clowns. No. Are you scared of clowns? That's what I wanted to ask you. I'm not scared of clowns, but I find them unsettling. You find them. For the most part.

[00:35:21] All right. This movie leans into that. Yeah. It leans into the unsettling clowns. Yeah. So, I wasn't prepared for that. Oh, are you going to show her a picture of? Yeah. I'm going to show her an image of one of the cute little clowns and you can. Okay. Eric's scrolling. Yeah. Here we go. Let's start with this one. Isn't that a cute clown? That's gross. Look at that. Look at that. What is in that? Wouldn't you love it to make you a little balloon animal? That would frighten me if I were to come across that. Yeah. There you go. What do you see? Their teeth, Lola. Oh, yeah. So, Killer Clowns from Outer Space. You don't want to watch it. What was this movie made?

[00:35:52] 88. Okay. 88. Classic. Yeah. So, you're not afraid of clowns? No. Oh. But, yeah. Okay. How about this guy? Are you afraid of this guy? I would be afraid of those clowns. All right. Okay. So, that's off the list for movie night. Well, Eric, what happens is Mike and Debbie go to the police station. As a matter of fact, they pull in. They crash into a mailbox. Yeah. They're not good. No. Dave, our young police officer, comes out. He's like, what's going on? And they're like, they're trying to go.

[00:36:21] There's clowns are just yelling stuff. And he's like, all right, come on in. Come on into the police station. And then we cut to a drugstore. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. A drugstore where you, just for fun, you have an animatronic outside of a gorilla dressed in a clown outfit. Was that an animatronic? I thought it was a street performer. No. Okay. Eric, that explains a lot. I thought it was a street performer. And I was trying to figure out what he's doing.

[00:36:50] He's like a busker at the drugstore. We have friends who are buskers, Eric and I both. And I was like, what is the deal with this? It's like a gorilla in a muumuu. Yeah. With like a hat on. Like a spirit Halloween if they really didn't put any effort into the movement. Yeah. So the clown is walking by with a bag at the drugstore. This is one of those cool shots too, because you're looking at him through the window and it's warped. Distorted. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:37:18] So it's a little spooky, but he has a bag, a little clown bag, I guess. And he sees two people approaching the drugstore. So he's like, huh? Huh? He looks around like, I'll pretend I'm an animatronic, I guess. And he pretends he's a clown animatronic. Yeah. He does a pretty good job. The two girls look at him and they're like, oh, and they walk inside. I'm thinking, what is this clown's deal? What is his goal here? This whole drugstore thing we'll talk about as we go on, Eric.

[00:37:45] I don't know what's going on here, but we're back to the police station. So Debbie and Mike are trying to explain to young officer Dave what's going on. And Moody is, Moody is like, oh yeah. He's the asshole that you would have at Thanksgiving. You know what I mean? I'll tell you how the real turkeys are. Yeah. He's not. He goes, oh, clown. Killer clowns from outer space. Holy. Holy shit. I wrote that down too. Holy shit.

[00:38:14] But he gets to say the name of the movie. I thought that was cool. He does get, that's our movie title. But also he's kind of really a dick because he's like, who are you going to believe, Dave? Me or this little tramp? He says tramp. Yeah. Yep. And then tramp. And then Dave wants, he's like, who are your friend? You're at the top of the world together. So now he realizes that, oh, Mike and Debbie are a couple. He doesn't like that. Dave? Yeah. Yeah.

[00:38:44] No. But Moody says to Mike. Another great line. I know you. You hang around with those Terenzi brothers. Yes. And what he actually says, I know you, you little fart. Yeah. Just lines like that where you just. I like him. I'm okay with him. I'm all right. Because it's Dean Wormer. I'm good. Like, let this guy have a little fun with it. You little trampy fart. Farty tramp.

[00:39:13] That's what he said. Every time somebody goes up to his house and trick or treat, he's like, ah, what are you supposed to be? A little farty tramp? Get out of here, kids. So Dave, Mike, and Debbie all leave. Mike's, uh, Dave says, I'll go help you guys investigate or whatever. And then suddenly we cut to, um, I think. I do have to say is a great line for the future because Moody says, hey. Leans out. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:39:42] You can make a dummy out of yourself, but you're not going to make a dummy out of me. I just want to make sure we got that. You're right. Cause I caught that on my second watch. Yeah. He has great lines. He has the best lines. Yes, he does. So we cut to a gazebo in the park and a guy is just a 20 something year old guy is walking up on the gazebo. Um, and. The director loves 80 sweaters because it seems like everybody is wearing a fucking sweater

[00:40:11] in this movie. It's just wearing a sweater. I think he looks like Macaulay Culkin if he grew up weird. That's what he looks like to me. And this guy goes up on the gazebo and there's a puppet show stand set up like a, like where you do like a puppet show on the gazebo. And we get a puppet show. We get a little punch and Judy-ish show here. There's a round head, simple head. And I think the guy, the puppet identifies as male is trying to get the moves on the girl and she's pushing them away.

[00:40:41] She's like, and the puppet male isn't, he's not taking a note for an answer, but she's, she pulls out a fricking ray gun. And I love her eyes. She has like one eye that's slightly smaller than the other. So it looks like she's got a, like a, like. Her face changes. She. Yes. That's what I mean. This is where I'm thinking, are they magic or is this part because the puppet changes

[00:41:08] its face to be pissed off and just blast the shit out of the puppet guy with a, you know, effect. And he disappears. And that's what our, our watcher, our one viewer loves it. He's like. But she hears him, our puppet, and she starts to turn towards him with the ray gun. And the angry face. She's like. Yes. It's great. And I think he knows that something's up because the guy's just like.

[00:41:40] And a clown, big old clown head starts to come up in the puppet show right next to her and keeps going. It keeps going up. It's so tall. It busts the stage apart. Like it basically like King Kong or something. Yep. Breaks the whole puppet stage apart. And it's up there. It's pretty scary. And that it's got its own laser gun. Well, no, it's got the puppet hand. The puppet has it. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:42:05] And it shoots the guy and he turns into that cotton candy thing that we saw. Yes. So, aha. But I think he's dead because again, they're not human sized. So this guy got kind of shrunk into this cotton candy thing. So I'm thinking that they're doing that to all these people. Yeah. And so we really quick cut back to the drugstore again. I love the druggist.

[00:42:32] And our red haired clown here is inside the drugstore now. Yes. And he's just, he's kind of wrecking things. He's going through stuff on the shelves. But we see that there are those cotton candy things in the drugstore. Yeah. And in case we didn't know, they were the two girls from the beginning. They have shoes. Yes. None of the others have shoes. Just these two. Gotta let them know. But yet he's not attacking the drugstore owner, the clerk at the thing.

[00:43:01] And we're just watching this guy go, may I help you? Oh. Yeah. That clown is freaking making, knocking stuff down, looking for things. He's like. I was kind of like, did they get somebody to say, okay, you can use my store? And they're like, we're going to knock stuff off the shelf. Sure. Yeah. You can do that. They did. But then they reshot some other stuff because. Oh, they did. Okay. The store said, hey, we don't want you guys to wreck the place. And like, oh gosh, darn it.

[00:43:29] So they, they put up a fake store and they made the clowns wreck more stuff. Yeah. So Mike, Debbie and Dave, uh, officer Dave are in the cop car. And this is where Mike finds out that Debbie and Dave used to be an item. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. They're talking and he's like, oh. Yeah. He doesn't. I don't like this. Yep. Uh, and Dave starts to be like, well, I'll tell you what.

[00:43:59] Mike and I will go investigate up in the woods where this thing was. Uh, but I'm dropping you at your house. Yeah. Either that or I'm putting you in the jail. It's like, he's such a dick. She's like, stop it. Yeah. Oh. This is a point where she kind of listens to him. So I don't know what kind of relationship they had before. Cause she's been strong up until now, but she's like, you. You.

[00:44:22] And then we just get a quick little mini montage here of the clowns, what they're doing around town while all this is going on. What? Okay. What did you think of this next bit? Because they knock on a door. I have a theory. I have a theory. And the person who answers the door, you just, is it a separate movie that they were shooting? Yeah. It's a very attractive woman in.

[00:44:52] Okay. Underwear corner a little bit here. Right. Underwear corner. I have it for you. Yeah. Uh, we don't get to see the whole thing, but this is one of those, I'm going to call it the eighties onesie teddy for women. So it's partially see-through like a one piece bathing suit negligee with little straps.

[00:45:14] And, um, it's partially see-through because it's got that underwear style, uh, crochet, not crochet, but like that. And so this is our only, this is the only underwear we're getting the whole thing. But this woman who's in her what? Twenties? Mm-hmm. Is answering the door. Like- With a wine glass. With a wine glass. With the world's largest amount of white wine. And what, how did they get here? Yeah. Because who was she waiting for?

[00:45:43] Not what she got at the door, but it's clowns with a clown with an unusual amount of pizza boxes. Mm-hmm. And I think this line is viral because she looks and she goes, oh, pizza. Like, what does that mean? It was she- Eric, I agree. There's a whole other story here that we're not seeing. There's gotta be. A whole other story. But- Spend some time with her.

[00:46:10] I wanted to be in her house and find out what she was doing 15 minutes prior. I need to know. But also, Eric, the reason this seems here, this was an addition after they were all done shooting. The producers were like, the people that were in charge of the money were like, hey, can you get some more clown stuff in here? We need more clowns. Can you get some more? Need more clowns. We like the clowns. Get more clowns. But I think they also said, and you're a little light on skin. You're a little light on skin in this movie.

[00:46:39] Is there a way you- The actor doesn't want to take her clothes off. We'll talk about that. I got a friend who works at a strip club. She might do it. She's no actor, but she has a teddy. But I think that's where that comes from. Okay. Because I just- If you were to- If you're a teen, you would be pausing this on the video to see if you could see through her outfit, which you can a little bit. I didn't pause it, are you? Yeah, wait. No, I haven't.

[00:47:07] It's a still on IMDb. I was just scrolling through. Give me a break. But it's three clowns. Yes. Three clowns with the pizza boxes. But that's not it. No! The pizza box opens. The top of the pizza box opens, and another clown comes up. Your favorite clown, I imagine, based on the name on your screen. I only learned that recently. Yes. Shorty. When I was going through my- Yeah. Shorty. Shorty, yeah. He's got green tufts of hair. I'll decide. He's a little guy.

[00:47:34] He's a little, but he pokes his head up, and they shoot her with the cotton candy gun. Oh, my God. I have to picture the director going, all right, hold the wine glass. She's like, okay, okay. All right. And when I say go, I want you to go, like that. Yeah. And he goes, go. And she goes, one, 1,000, two, 1,000. I could just see the director going, okay, cut. Yep. All right. Well, we'll just keep that. Before this fun B movie, it's kind of cool.

[00:48:02] The thing circles around and makes some cotton candy balls. Yeah. She turns into cotton candy. It is the wine in there. Because someone who eats that cotton candy is going to get drunk. Well, and then we cut to another doorbell ringing. And a woman, see, this was all added. They wanted more clowns. So they just, uh. But what a, wait, we just saw this great practical effect where the clown comes out of the pizza. And this one is, I believe his name is Batso. He's big.

[00:48:32] He's a big guy. Yeah, I think he's called Batso. And she, this woman answers the door and he has. Older woman. Like, uh, you know, uh, you'd find at the knitting club or, or she's on the, on the board at the PTA. And she answers the door and this clown has a box of chocolates, a big, uh. Okay. Heart-shaped box of chocolates. Cool, cool. And then. You saw that pizza box, Eric. So what's going on? Uh. He just takes out a gun and, and, uh, and smiles. He doesn't really. It doesn't really. Nothing. Yeah.

[00:49:01] I thought, oh, come on. I thought it was going to go proing, you know, and hit her with chocolate in the face or something. But he does have, now we know these clowns are kind of assholes. They're evil. They're like Mars attacks. They like what they're doing. They like the fun of this. Yes. Cause the clown goes. It's like this crazy laugh and he's got a row of teeth. He's got a huge mouth. Like bite your head off, man. But yeah. So, uh, there you go.

[00:49:29] Then we come back and it just here, we're just Mike and Dave and Debbie. Uh, they dropped Debbie off at the house. Mike goes up on the porch. Debbie gives a little kiss. She's saying, don't worry about Dave. I it's a relationships over whatever, but Dave sees them from the car. You don't like it. He sees that kiss. Yeah. Yeah. And so did you like the detail? Mike comes back and he makes Mike get in the back. Get in the back of the car. Yep. He's like, oh really? Yeah. And, and, um, Debbie's in charge too. Cause she's like, how follow you guys.

[00:49:59] And Mike's like, no, don't do that. Don't do that. I thought she was going to. Yeah. I thought, I thought she was going to show up, but, but a drugstore back to the drugstore. They keep going back to this drugstore, Eric. And, uh, one shorty is shorties there now somehow. I think shorties there. And I, I forget what the other guys. I call him red, but he's, he's the guy we've sort of saw originally. You can't make up names for the clown. Yeah. Right. I know. You can't. I'm going to look it up. Is it slim? Do they call him slim? There's probably slim, but I already looked up killer clown names. Oh.

[00:50:29] I did. Yep. I looked them all up. It's a, it's a line of toys too, that are pretty successful. Right. I think they, oh my God. They have so many. Yeah. Yes. If you guys look it up, you'll see, they've got all of the, all variants of the killer clowns. But I think this is from the game and the movie, but we got shorty, your favorite. Yeah. I had no idea. Rudy is the guy I think you're talking about. Okay. With the red hair. Yeah. Sorry. I, sorry, fatty.

[00:50:58] I didn't mean to call you fatty, but it's chubby. Oh. Oh. Yeah. Much better for his self-esteem. Jumbo. Yeah. Bibbo. So there's, there's a, there's 90 clown names. Oh my gosh. So I don't. Okay. And I don't think I can go on. Cause I took picture. I was trying to keep track because Eric, I thought at first, as I'm watching the movie, I'm like, Eric's thing is going to be how many different clowns? Well, I thought maybe count. There's five main clowns. Yes.

[00:51:26] But I, I'm going to, you can pause it if you want, but I can look up the main clowns. I don't know. These two clowns at the drugstore, Eric are spraying shaving cream. It's going into one. They're laughing each other. They have a, they open up a thing with powder in it and they're sneezing into the powder. It's a cute little. It's, it's sort of the thing where you're like, this would be the stuff that kids would like and laugh at, but it's not really a kid's movie. Well, it's PG-13.

[00:51:56] It is PG-13, which I think they were trying to do, right? Yeah. Yeah. And I think slim is, yeah. You got slim, spiky. Oh, there's, there's, I think seven, but shorty, slim, jumbo, Rudy, which I guess is the clown leader. I didn't know that. Spiky, fatso and chubby. Chubby's not as big as fatso. Fatso's like, they're like, come on guy, keep up. So there you go. There you go, everybody. We got it. So Mike and Dave now are at the woods looking for the tent, but the tent's not there. Yeah.

[00:52:26] It's just a big hole. Yeah. And Dave's at it. Dave thinks he's been, Dave thinks he's been tricked. Yeah. Dave's thinking with his little Dave though. Dave. It's really, Eric, this is so dramatic. I'll tell you what the facts are, mister. Mooney was right about you or Mooney was right about you. Yeah. And then he handcuffs Mike. He does. He puts the cuffs on him. Yeah. He's got no rest of them. Yeah. You said people are dead. Where are they? Yeah.

[00:52:53] So, so that trip was for nothing, but, uh, but, but then we're cutting to a biker bar. Okay. Uh, uh, we're outside the alley. It's clear there's motorcycles everywhere. Guys in leather. It is a plethora of bikers. Yes. What's the name of the burger place? Uh, Big Top Burgers. Big Top Burger or biker bar. You get everything here and they're all outside. So your favorite guy.

[00:53:21] This reminds me, Eric, we've done a lot of this, even, even Fright Night, one of our favorite movies. I love when you and I are trying to figure out what is this town? What is happening in the town? Yeah. The Fright Night is like, oh, small town with a huge disco. Yeah. This one, it's like burgers or bikers. What do you want? Which one? We got everything. And then super rural acres of, of woods. You got the guy in the cabin from Pirates of the Caribbean sitting there. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Yep. So, so yeah. Bikers out there. All right.

[00:53:50] We got to make a map of this town. That would be awesome. Somebody. I think there is one in the video game. I think they, they have like a little map in the video. Anybody has a map, send it to us. Yeah. So your favorite shorty goes up on the best. It, it's a great bicycle. That little bicycle with training wheels, Eric. It's almost better than Pee Wee Herman's bicycle. Almost. But it's pretty decked out. Yeah. And they all laugh and. Ah, who's this guy? They shorty gets off his bike and then the hugest biker comes over.

[00:54:20] Can I, can I ride your bike? And yeah. Shorty's shorty's like, no. Can I beep the horn? Oh, okay. He says that's okay. And then the guy just picks up and wrecks his bike. Smashes the shit out of it. Stomps on it. Oh my God. And when he's stomping on it though, it does go like. It should have. That would have been funny art. Frimp peep. Frimp peep. Boom. Oh, we should have those effects. But the clown is sad now.

[00:54:50] He's crying and one of his ears is going crazy. It's like twitch, twitch, twitch, twitch, twitch, twitch, twitch, twitch, twitch. But he's crying. He's sad. Yes. But then he jumps up into the air and sort of disappears for a second. Yes. They're all like, what, what, what, what, what's going on? Yeah. And he comes back down and now he's got boxing gloves on. Yes. And he's ready to go. He's like. Now, Eric, when I was watching this, it made me think this aesthetic here.

[00:55:17] This is like very Beetlejuice-ish. Yeah. Right? Sure. Like it reminds me very much of that type of thing. Yeah. What were you, what were you expecting right now? Was it a surprise for you? Because first time watcher for you, were you surprised? I didn't know. I knew he had boxing gloves and I said, when he does the boxing gloves, I was like, is he going to hit the guy and the guy's going to turn into cotton candy or something like that? I didn't know. Okay. So no, I did not know that this is what was going to happen.

[00:55:47] Because this is where a PG-13, but you still get, they get away with some shit. Yeah. Because he says, oh, you're going to knock my block off? And he does. He does. He knocks his head off, the biker's head off into a trash can. Good shot. Lands right in the trash can. And everybody around is like, whoa. I love how the body just goes flew, but folds in half. It's awesome. Yeah. Who's the biker now? Yeah. It's shorty.

[00:56:17] Yeah. So we're getting some from these guys in this moment. Like I said, I was thinking Beetlejuice, but also. Looney Tunes. We're definitely getting like a Bugs Bunny-ish type of thing. But then with a. You're expecting it now. With a hard, with a hard graphic. Right. And how can they chop it? And you're like, how can you chop the pizza part or whatever? And then they, then they throw you this stupid other one with the, nothing happens. Then you get the guy with his head taken off. So. Yeah.

[00:56:45] It's just, it's great. And they're not, we're not even, the clowns appear right away. So we're, this doesn't waste any time. There's not really any fast forwarding here. They're ticking off their list of everything they want to do. And we're now going to go to Big Top Burger. And there's a birthday party going on in there. What do you think the burgers are like at Big Top Burger? What's the theme? I was just curious. What do you think? Oh, gosh. What's the menu? At Big Top Burger.

[00:57:13] It'd be like, oh, curly fries. Yeah. Jumbo burger. Yeah. You know, something like that. They got to be like three. Milky shake. Three onion rings circus. I'm trying to do something with onion rings. Oh, three onion rings circus. Good job. That's it. Yeah. So, so a little girl, she seems, I don't know, she seems a little down or something. And she looks out the window. I'm a jerk. Sit still. I'll kill you. I mean, horrible parent.

[00:57:44] She should die. I wanted to see her die. I need to grab. I'll stop. Oh, he's got cramps. I nearly did. I nearly did. Sorry. All right. Anyways. Sit still, you little shit. Mommy's drinking. How about that? You got any more? So, so they, she looks out the window and on the little, you know, the little animals they have outside to play places on the spring thing, there's a big old clown out there. He's a big guy. I think it's jumbo and not jumbo. Yes. Cause he's big.

[00:58:13] He has green hair. Right. And, uh, so the little girl he's, he's, he's beckoning to her with his, one of his fingers. She's coming out. She's heading towards the door. He's got a fricking mallet behind him. You know, the kind that you, we hit the thing, ding. And the bell goes like that. I thought, Oh my God, they're going to clobber this girl in front of us. Right. The mom though, Eric, good thing. For the mom. You were giving her some crap, but she comes over and it's like, yeah, because he's mad.

[00:58:42] Get back here to finish your, your three ring circuits. So, so that, that clown doesn't get to, you get to make a kill here. Yeah. But I didn't get the scene because he just gets mad. Yeah. I thought, is he going to go in there with his mallet and just smash shit up? No, he just gets all pissy. Yeah. Cause we got to join, uh, Mike and Dave are at the top of the world. Oh. The make out lover's lane. Yep. But all the cars are empty. Oh no. Yeah.

[00:59:13] Oh no. So Dave gets out to investigate. Yeah. It's like stay in the back handcuffed or something. Yep. So he gets out to investigate and he opens up one of the cars. There's all this cotton candy. I think it looks great. It's creepy. It's like a spider web of cotton. I think it's great. The only problem I have here, Eric, with this is this feels like a scene that should be earlier

[00:59:38] in the movie when we haven't yet seen everything that's happened and we're wondering what's going on like before. Right. That's my, that's my issue with it. Even though I think it looks good. Well, because. Okay. They didn't want the clowns until later and the producers were like, nope. Okay. We need clowns. And so I think. See, that makes sense. Probably more of a murder mystery. Yeah. Involved. Because we already know what it is. I know.

[01:00:05] So, so it kind of, this whole stuff with following Mike and Dave and doing all that. I think I liked the movie and I liked doing all this clown stuff, but that kind of feels weird because I, I already know what's going on. So I'm trying to, we're way ahead of Mike and Dave. Yeah. Yeah. And a lot of movies do that. I mean, aren't they, they, a lot of movies do that. We're already, we're like way ahead. And I think just rewrites and stuff, but I'm still digging it. I want. I am too. I am too.

[01:00:32] But a cotton candy spider was going to come out of there. I was hoping for that. I was waiting for something different, like you said. But anyways, Dave is like, okay, something weird's going on. So he unhandcuffs Mike. So I guess that's a big move. Well, you remember your beer drinking guy. The guy that had way too many beers. Oh, yes. His glasses. They find his glasses. Oh. Oh. So he did. What happened to him? And so we then see Mooney.

[01:01:01] I keep missing Mooney. Mooney. Mooney. Because he's. Mooney. Mooney. Mooney at the police station. It is Mooney. It's Mooney. Mooney. Damn, you want to correct? It's Mooney. Is it? Yeah, Mooney. Mooney. Okay. Mooney. Okay. Mooney. Mooney. I was a Mooney. Mooney is. Dean Wormer. He's at the jail. There you go. He's fielding phone calls from all over. Yes. People are calling about clowns. Yep. And you can hear him going, ah, somebody.

[01:01:31] They wrecked my house. Things like that. And he's like, oh yeah. Okay. Because I think he thinks it's the brothers are setting up this elaborate hoax. Doing pranks all over town. Yeah. Yeah. And then the drugstore guy calls our drugstore guy. And he's like, you too? You're in on this clown stuff? But the drugstore guy is like, hey, they're here. And we cut really quickly the drugstore. And the clown, our guy, what did you call him? What was his name?

[01:02:00] The main clown? The head clown? Rudy. Rudy has got a pile of stuff at the register. He's even got a little hat on that he has. But it's like Alka-Seltzer and then Bugs Bunny vitamins. I noticed. The Bugs Bunny vitamins. I'm glad you caught that. Yes. Kind of funny. I said Bugs Bunny. You did? You said Bugs Bunny earlier. Yeah. So more calls coming in. Then we cut just out of the blue, a guy's racing down the road. A guy in a car.

[01:02:31] And he's terrified because right next to him is a clown. Yes. Great. It's a great bit. Because you've got a clown, an actual clown, driving next to him on what you would think is a motorcycle. But it's invisible. Yes. Except for two headlights. So there's no seat. Nothing. But the clown's holding as if he's holding handlebars. But there's nothing there. Because it's great because the guy looks out, Eric, and the way he realizes he sees

[01:03:00] the big shoes. Yep. The big shoes going along with no motorcycle there. Yep. So yeah. And this is supposed to be, Art, the opening scene in the movie. This was supposed to be Joe Lombardo. This is Joe Lombardo. Yep. Disappointed that he didn't score up at the hill there. So he's driving home mad. And the first thing, before the opening credits, I thought, what? How would...

[01:03:27] And they were supposed to have a spectacular car crash. But this, while we're here on this, you and I love how things work. But they basically built a rig on the car and put the clown outfit over it. It's an actor on this thing. And the actor is able to, by raising his arms or lowering his arms, move the rig forward or backwards or towards the car. It's amazing. It looks good. It does look good.

[01:03:53] And he starts crashing his invisible motorcycle into the car. Yeah. Like Mad Max. And guy goes off a bridge. Yep. Goes down. You said it was supposed to be a spectacular explosion, but something didn't work right. I think I read that part. They forgot to take the blocks off of the tires. Yeah. But it does catch fire. And then we see the clown at the top. This is a whole new clown, by the way, that we haven't seen yet. He's the one who's got like the little antennas on the top of his head, like almost like marsh. Yeah.

[01:04:21] I don't know if it's... Yeah. That's not... It might be slim. But yeah. But I know this is a new guy. Yeah. But he laughs. He's like... Okay. He loves it. They love killing people. They really do. Remember Debbie? We dropped Debbie off at her house. Yeah. Well, she's going to take a shower. All right. Okay. Horror movie time. There we go. Here's where we go back, Eric, to what we were saying before. Yeah. What?

[01:04:47] So she's in the bathroom and she's taken off her clothes. She has the popcorn on her clothes and she's like, ugh. And she throws them into the hamper with the popcorn on them, which is something I don't think I would do. Well, maybe not you, but maybe she didn't see it. Yeah. But then she's going to undress to get in the shower. But Eric... What are you going to do? PG-13. It's just for an 11-year-old kid. Yeah.

[01:05:17] It's PG. I guess you're right. That's what... Not enough. My thought, Eric, was like, this is one of those cases where the woman, they cast the woman, she agrees to the movie, and then they're on the set and they're like, you can imagine the conversation. Well, we're in the bathroom. You're going in the shower. Yeah. Do you want to... And she's like, no. No. No. No. No. No. No. And they're like, well, we're figuring... No. No. No way. I can walk right now. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. Just... We want to see your stomach.

[01:05:47] Can we see your stomach? Fine. She's like, all right. So she very carefully lifts her sweatshirt off just to show us her navel, right? Yeah. Or her belly. No. Close. Close. We get a little higher. Yep. Crop top. And then it goes down her body and we see her take her bottoms off. She's got this, I don't know, sweats on or something. But when she takes them off, I like this. We see the floor and there's popcorn on the floor that must have dropped off her clothes.

[01:06:17] And then we see her go into the shower, her feet go into the shower. But then what happens, Eric, to these popcorn? You see one crawling across the floor, like a little slug. And another one's kind of turning around so they're alive. And on my second watch, I watched it really closely. I'm like, how are they doing? What are they doing? Poltergeist. It's a real cool and easy effect because you've got a tile floor and you just have one part.

[01:06:46] You're stretching it along and they just have little things that are going. Just like the steak in Poltergeist. And it's so practical and awesome. It's a little popcorn moving along. Yep. Yep. So it's a good effect. We're back to Big Top Burger, but we're not, we're in the back. It's a dumpster. And our clown there, your guy, is that Jumbo? He comes up with a suitcase full of popcorn. A carpet bag. Carpet bag full of popcorn.

[01:07:16] That's good for a clown. Carpet bag. And he dumps some popcorn into the dumpster and closes it. Yeah. Very like sprinkling around like it's on a cake. And this guy comes out and he goes throw trash away and he gets pulled into the dumpster by something. So you know that the popcorn turns into something, but it's just like. And to make sure we remember, they just cut back really quick to Debbie's bathroom and her hamper is going like, is moving around a little. Yeah. In case we don't know.

[01:07:47] But here's another scene in the car with the two guys and. They're having a Debbie talk. Yeah. And Dave's like, well, it's obviously she goes for laughs and not stability. Ah! You had the same line I did written down. That's all I had written down for that scene. Yeah, that's all we need. And that was it. That's all we need. But then we get something new. Here the movie's doing something completely new. Yep. There's people at a bus stop all of a sudden and a bus goes by and it doesn't even stop kind of. It just goes by.

[01:08:16] And then there's a clown sitting there with his bag or like he just got off the bus, but it didn't really get off the bus. It was interesting. And he's sitting there and he starts to do some hand pop, a hand puppet show for the people. And it's the world's greatest shadow puppets because there's a huge brick wall in the back. And there's, I think, five people or six people and they're all looking. And he's doing these amazing things. He does a bunny. Now, remember, he's got those big oven mitt hands. Yeah.

[01:08:45] He does a freaking elephant, but with a trunk. And they keep cutting to his three fingered hands. And he's like, it doesn't make any sense that his hands could be making these. Right. Is it magic or? I don't know. And they keep getting more intricate. And it's Washington crossing the Delaware. Yes. And one guy salutes it. He's like, oh, hi. And you got a dancing lady. Yes. Like a veiled dancer. Yeah. Like, and she's doing the hula sort of moves. Just as.

[01:09:13] Meanwhile, Mike and Dave pull up in the cop car. Mm-hmm. And Mike is like, that's the clown. Shoot him. Go get him. And Dave is like, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. And I'm like, does Dave want to watch the puppet show? He's like, wait, I want to see what else he does. Yeah. Didn't you just see that girl? But the, the veil, the belly dancer turns into sort of a dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus Rex with a red eye. With a red eye. Yeah. Hard to do. Mm-hmm. But.

[01:09:42] And we should say this is being done with like animation on the wall. So they're using a composite shot, but I think it's framed great. It looks cool. Yeah. It's not a Roger Rabbit or something. It's, it's really a neat effect that they're doing. It is awesome. And that, but the shadow turns solid black now. And the people start to get scared because the T-Rex goes. Rawr. And it leans over and eats all five people. Swallows them up. Great a little effect.

[01:10:12] They all cower. Ah. It's kind of like Monty Python. And eats them. And then you see the guy still doing the clown, still doing a shadow puppet. And you can see the T-Rex is swallowing them. Gloop. Gloop. Gloop. And he puts, he goes like this with his hands. He has his hands clasped together. And you can hear the people screaming. Mm-hmm. In his hands. What's happening? And then he puts them in the popcorn bag. And I thought, what, what is the, what, what? But then I don't care.

[01:10:40] I don't care why they reduced in size. Why put them in a popcorn bag. Yeah. I don't know. But, but yeah. So then the clown just levitates out of there. Right? He just. Well, they go to crash into him. Yeah. Flies just like the little guy. Straight. Straight up. He's gone. Yeah. And they crash. Yeah. The police car, we should say, crashes in. But then the ice cream truck pulls around the corner. It's the Terenzi brothers. Yep. Here they come. Yep. And they call Mooney.

[01:11:10] He doesn't believe him. He's like, fuck you. You're not going to get me. That's the only one he could say, by the way. PG 13. So. That's it. Dave's going to head back to the police station. Yeah. And Mike goes with the Terenzi brothers. Yeah. Yep. Yep. He's trying to explain. And these guys are. What? What? Clowns. I guess in real life, they were a comedy duo. They actually were. Oh. They performed together as a comedy duo. And. Hmm. And so that's.

[01:11:40] Why they're in this movie. How does he get them to go over to. Well. Debbie's house. He says, you got to take me to Debbie's. Yeah. And they say. Does. Does she have roommates? Weets. Yeah. Mike is like. Yes. Two roommates with really big boobs. They're like. Oh. All right. Okay. We'll take you. All right. So now Mike is with the Terenzi brothers in the ice cream truck. And we go back to. Um. The station. Yep. And Mooney's not even. He doesn't care. He's smoking a cigar.

[01:12:09] Reading his magazine. All the phones are ringing. He's like. I don't care. No. He doesn't care. Yep. Yeah. But one of the bigger clowns. I think it could be Jumbo. I think it is Jumbo. I think it's the same one that was at the big top. Yeah. Chubby's a lot bigger. I think. But Jumbo comes in. He has the best lines. This guy. He looks at the clown. He goes. Oh. Oh. Whoop. De goddamn doo doo. It's just. And. And. It's so much fun with.

[01:12:39] When. When he comes in Jumbo. He kind of shuffles. Little shuffles. Like. Like. Yeah. Like with his feet. Like. It's going to do a show. And his arms are like at his side. And he's. It's really cool. Really creepy. It's funny. Creepy. Squirts. He does the flower squirt. Yeah. Squirts him in the face. Mooney. Yeah. And he. He's like. All right. There's a couple of bits they're doing here. Yeah. He's like. That's enough. Turn around. And the clown does it.

[01:13:09] And he cupped him. And then. The clown walks away. And Mooney's got his hands. His hands came off. He's like. Ah. All right. You. And the clown sneaks away. Like. Bye bye. But goes back. They go back into where the jail cells are. Yes. Remember the two guys from the very beginning. They're in there. I wanted them to walk by Hannibal Lecter in one of the cells. Oh my God. Can you hear the screaming of the clowns, Clarice? Do you hear it? Yeah. He goes in there.

[01:13:39] And the two punks are in there. And he's going to. He's going to put the clown, I guess, in with them. Yep. Uh, but I guess the clown's last straw is he hits the clown on the back of the head with a baton or something. Yes. And the clown who's in the jail now with the door closed. What are those things called? what's that called with it? You know, it's squeak into it and it unfurls in front of you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You annoy every parent in the world with those when you give them out.

[01:14:09] It unfurls. Yep. Right. So the clown has that and he uses it on Moody and it turns into a freaking hand. Yes. Grabs him by the neck. I was like, they are really, Eric, finding every gag they can do involving clowns. Just when you think they have no arsenal left, they freaking do. They freaking whoop-dee-doo-da-doo. Yeah. So, but Dave comes in or Officer Dave. Yes. He comes in the office

[01:14:38] with big colorful clown footprints all over the place. Cut-out footprints. They're not in the ground. They're like somebody cut them out. Very unique, I thought. All of like, and so he follows them and when he goes back to the jail cell area, they're all on the walls. It's like the jail cell area has been transformed into a fun house type of thing here. Yep. And he follows them back and in the cell where our two guys were, there's one of those cotton candy balls hanging there. Two of them.

[01:15:09] Two of them, yes. But they're sort of plastered against the wall. I don't know what they do. Almost like an alien does in the movie Alien when they stick the people up. I don't know what they're doing with the cotton candy, but sometimes they web people up for no reason. Like, why did they leave these two guys here? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, it's kind of scary. It's a little, I think this is the first scary. So Dave moves the cotton candy and sees the face, but then something different happens here. An arm covered, wrapped in cotton candy. It's like an arm

[01:15:38] falls and hits Dave. Yeah. I think the clown, the clown's not there, but I think the clown probably did short work of these guys. He didn't do it right. He's like, shit, I didn't get it. So Dave heads back out when he gets to the office, Jumbo's sitting at the desk. Yep. Mooney's desk. And he freaking pulls up, like, you know, with the ventriloquist dolls, right? Pulls up Officer Mooney. Yes. And it's very simple, but it works.

[01:16:07] He's got red circles on his cheeks and two red lines for, you know, the dummy has the lower jaw. Moveable mouth. Yes. Yeah. But it's blood. So he's clearly dead and he's using Mooney as a dummy. And I think the actor Vernon here does a good job with being the dummy here. But it's weird because this is actually, I think, the only really scary moment in the movie because the clown is,

[01:16:37] the voice of the officer is his own, but it's a little reverberated. And he says, don't worry, Dave. All we want to do is kill you. Yeah. And you're like, oh, oh shit. And then he releases Moody and he, his big hand, you can hear it pull out of his back. It's got blood all over it. Yes. Like you said, this is a horror movie scene here. Yeah. Yeah. This, the only dark, like, really dark moment.

[01:17:07] And, uh, Dave pulls out his gun and he shoots Jumbo and he hits him in the nose. Jumbo's big nose, all these clowns have it and it blows up the nose, but then it also, like it's green lights and swirling. It's a kind of this cool effect and then, boom, they just sort of blow up. Yeah, it's really cool because there's little confetti in the nose. But then it, when it explodes. So I guess now, you know,

[01:17:37] the only way to kill the clowns is in the nose. Yeah. So he, he calls on the phone to Marlboro police station, I guess, nearby, nearby town. He's like, send everyone. No, he's like, I love that line. I love it. I love it. But then he sits there and he suddenly remembers, Debbie, his ex-girlfriend. But now we're going to cut to the ice cream truck. Remember them? Mike and the Terenzi brothers. Yep. Uh, and, uh, the Terenzi brothers still aren't buying this clown stuff. And they, one of them says,

[01:18:05] if there are clowns running around here, I'm Porky Pig. It's funny. And they turn a corner and it's clown parade. Yep. It's awesome. But another new thing, for some reason, they have giant streamers, strewn everywhere. And they're walking down the street with a, a huge, I think of it as like a Dr. Seuss machine, like a family credenza thing with a big vacuum-like thing at the front. And you can see

[01:18:33] that they are gathering bodies by putting them in these, um, the, the things we saw at the beginning. And the cotton candy balls. Yeah. They're even throwing them out windows. We see one of them throwing one out a window down onto the street to get sucked up by this street sweeper thing. Yeah. So you figure it's the whole town, right? One guy even tries to run away. Yep. He was hiding under a car. They shoot him. Yep. So now they know it's real. Yeah. Uh, but we're going to cut back. Remember Debbie? Yeah, I remember Debbie.

[01:19:03] Taking a shower. Yep. We're, we're now like, it's been, how long was that shower? That was a long, she's got to wash that popcorn off. Long time. And now she's dressed in the world's biggest 80s sweater. How big is that sweater? Well, she's done. And, and, uh, she hears something, Eric. Yep. She looks over him. Weirdly, her bathroom vanity, the mirror's like going to shake in a little bit. And she hears, you know, something, something's going on. Yep. But she's got to throw her clothes in the hamper.

[01:19:33] She's done. towel. Yeah. Yeah. As soon as she opens that hamper, I, another new, it's a new critter. I loved them. These things, I, I, I, I really liked this too. Cause I was like, what? I thought it was the popcorn in there was going to attack her. Like the popcorn is going to fly out. That's what I thought. That's what I thought was coming. No. So I did not see this coming at all. You're like, what, what are they? They're like killer clown, Jack in the box, snake monsters. But, but the Jack in the box,

[01:20:03] like neck is really long and thin. Yeah. And, and these things are vicious. Yeah. They got teeth, fangs, little clown monster heads. Start going crazy. Two of them come out of the hamper and they're going at her and she backs up against the vanity, the sink. And the, the, the vanity opens up and two of them come out of the air and chomp onto her shoulders and neck. I thought she was done for, I thought, she's done,

[01:20:33] but she's pretty good. She uses hairspray. Right. One of them comes out of the toilet. One comes up. It's bigger than the other ones a little bit. Well, it comes out of the toilet. Yeah. It's that toilet. And she falls into the shower. She uses a water pick and shoves the water pick from the shower into the, into the, uh, its mouth and turns it on. I guess that distract, it starts pulling up with water. Yeah. Yeah. So she runs out. She's out of there. She's going to the door and she hears somebody knocking the door. It's Mike at the door. Finally.

[01:21:03] Mike. And, uh, you're going to laugh at me, Eric. This got me. I totally thought. Yeah. Yes. This totally, I felt bad about it, but it got me. Cause Mike's like, Debbie, it's me. It's Mike. Let me in. I'm like, Oh, that's right. Mike must be here. She opens the door and it's not Mike. Nope. It's a clown imitating Mike. Another trick that they have. Yes. Yep. And it got me. It got, I was like, Oh, it's a clown.

[01:21:33] I thought it was Mike. Yep. So you got to escape through the window. Yes. Here they are. I love it. She opens up the window. She's going to jump out and down below. These guys are ready for her. They even have costumes. Yes. They, they, they are underneath the window. Right. Eric with fireman costumes. Yep. And a little, the tiniest thing to catch her in. Very clowny. But they're like,

[01:22:03] I love it. I love it. They want Debbie for some reason. They really tormenting Debbie right now. I don't know why she goes back in and they're suddenly there. And they, now they, they shoot her, but she doesn't get caught in candy treatment. No, she gets a different treatment. It's something new. She, you know, you can buy those huge balloons at the circus with a kind of big rubbery balloons with dots on them. That's almost like tie dye. Yeah. Sort of. Yeah.

[01:22:33] I used to have those a lot. Like you fill it up with air and you go boom, boom, like, but they basically balloon her. In that. Yep. And they, they want her. So they take her outside and her house is covered. With that. Um, the streamers. I don't know what that's about. It's almost like a TP. It's a TP. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, the guys show up in the ice cream truck and they, the clown's like, Oh, it takes, but they get a little cloud car. They have a little cloud car.

[01:23:02] Debbie's outside in, you can see her in there going, huh? And it's a balloon that they have on the back of the car. And they're taken off as a high speed pursuit. So we're going to have a little chase here with, uh, Debbie's in the balloon on the back of the car and ice cream truck. And then they go by an intersection and officer Dave is there and he sees them. So he follows them, but the stupid brothers, because they see the police car. They're like, one of them is like, stop. There's a police car.

[01:23:30] And Dave crashes into the back of the ice cream. Yeah. So I guess the police car is out of commission, right? Yes. So, so they all get an ice cream truck and Dave's driving. And, but you know, Art, if you were a clown, where would you, where would you hide? Eric. Yeah. I'd go to the carnival at the, Oh, at the, at the pier, the pier, which I guess is the lost boys pier. Right. I get right. Is that Santa Monica? No, no, San Bernard, San,

[01:24:00] Santa Cruz. Yeah. Yeah. One way, but it's yeah. But in California, you lived here too. There's a lot of coastal towns that have these sort of pier midways. Yeah. Santa Monica had one way out. Yeah. Santa Monica has one. Oceanside, like these things and they, they're peers and then they'll might have rides on them and things like that. But they show a shot, which I liked a lot of them going down a coast highway. Uh, and in the distance we see this,

[01:24:29] but in the center of the carnival is clearly that big top. We saw from the woods there with that coloring. And it's great. It did bring up questions to me about the geography of this town, but, but I, but I liked the shot. So that that's fine. We're going to look at the map art. We're going to look at the map. Yeah. So you're in the amusement park now. And there's just your average guard there watching over something called like crazy house or something like that. It was supposed to be soupy sales. Yeah. But we don't know who soupy sales is, aren't? No,

[01:25:00] nobody knows half the people listening to this probably know who soupy sales is. Yeah. But the little car pulls up with the Debbie balloon and clowns start getting out of the car and it's our five main clowns. It's the clown car joke. They just keep getting out of the car. I love the guard. He's like looking at them like, Oh, Oh, Oh. And then suddenly we cut back to them and they just magically, suddenly they all have pies in their hands. They just magically just, they cut back and they all,

[01:25:28] and the security guy's like, what are you going to do with those pies boys? Great line. It's a great line. And then it's just a shot of him getting pummeled. One of them misses him completely, but yeah, but that's all right. But what looks like raspberry pie or something? Yeah. It's just, and then you can tell something drawn because he's like, Oh, Oh, Oh, and he sinks out of shot. And the clowns walk by him with the balloon. They're carrying it into the fun house. It's like a little fun house.

[01:25:59] And a shorty though, shorty's the last one in and he puts a big cherry on top of this big mound of pie gook. Yep. That was once our security guard. Yep. Pops the cherry on there. Big old cherry. Not a, it's ridiculously large. Yeah. So they go in and then right on their heels are posse arrives. So Dave, the brothers and Mike all arrive in the ice cream truck and they're going in. And one of the brothers like, Hmm,

[01:26:29] looks like ice cream. And he takes some on his finger and Dave's like, yeah, well, it's not. And we look down and the security guards arm is there and it's just bone. So it's, it's disintegrated. It's like acid. Yep. Yeah. And then we see one of the guy who put the stuff on his finger is like, Oh, so wouldn't his finger start to get acid? No. That's what I thought, but they go, they go inside Eric and I'm pretty cool in here.

[01:26:58] Cause they're kind of in the, are they in the fun house? That's actually on the midway at this point. No, I don't, I don't, I don't know, but I like the designs here. I kind of like them. There's dinosaur cutouts. Yeah. This staircase for no reason with fall, awesome fog coming down it. Everything. Yeah. There's black. All of the set is black. So you don't know how far anything is. Yeah. It's really cool. And,

[01:27:26] and this is just them pondering about what's going on. Yeah. Right. They're not funny. Yeah. Maybe the clowns like to blend in. That's, they use this. They use clowns. Cause we'd understand it. And Mike, I think says maybe they were ancient astronauts. And that's where we got our idea of clowns from. And then finally, finally, Dave is like, yeah, let's just all stop talking. Yeah. Why don't we, they're just here to, they're just here for a snack. They said, or something. Yeah. He's like, we got to shoot them in the nose.

[01:27:56] So now we know. Yeah. Like you got to shoot them in the nose. The only way. Which, which the Kyoto brothers said they came up with from, you know, just borrowing from night of living dead. Yeah. Yeah. The brain. Yeah. And that kills those only one way to do it. Shoot them in the, shoot them in the nose, kill the clown. But those stupid brothers, they're all always touching stuff. They shouldn't, they press a button and a steam blast comes out from the ground. They're like, Whoa, like stop touching things. Yeah. And then they climb up, they're going up a set of stairs and the two brothers fall backwards into a ball pit. Yeah.

[01:28:26] It's a trap door. Yeah. They're just gone. So Dave and Mike, we see them fall, fall like into a, into a, yeah, into a ball pit. Yeah. And Mike and Dave are turned around. So they don't see it. So they turn, they turn, it's like Scooby doo or something. And they turn around. They're like, Oh, where are they? Well, we got to keep going. Yep. They keep going. But now the guys in the ball pit, remember before they really wanted to hook up with Debbie's roommates? Yes. What? They come out of the ball pit and they go, are you Debbie's roommates? And they cut to the reverse shot.

[01:28:55] And there's two of our clowns sitting on the edge of the ball pit. And they have wigs on. Yeah. They're female hair. Female. And they're kind of going, Ooh, Ooh. Yeah. Posing. Yep. And I'm like, this is straight out of Bugs Bunny, right? Putting the wig on. But Bugs Bunny going, Hey boys. But then their boobs inflate to an unreasonable size. They go.

[01:29:25] And the two guys are like, Oh, okay. Yeah. Oh gosh. Sexy music starts to play. But this is where Mike realized. We don't, we don't want to happen. Nope. Cause they cut, they cut right back to Mike and Dave. They found the, they find the where, like the warehouse we were in earlier with all the cotton. The spaceship. Yeah. Yeah. So they're looking for Debbie in there. Yep. Cause he's in that balloon. So they end up going back to that cotton candy thing. Remember the cotton candy at the beginning,

[01:29:52] but it's now filled with cocoons. So they, there's like hundreds of basically dead people in there. And a lot of balloons now. Yes. Yeah. So I don't know what they're doing with the balloons, but yeah, I don't either because we find out what they're doing with the cotton candy now. Cause a clown comes in and they hide. So Mike and Dave hide and they watch as this big clown comes in and he takes, he has suddenly a big, you know, curly straw, crazy straw.

[01:30:22] Eric world's biggest, crazy straw. Huge. I mean, so many twists and turns in it, the straw and like little art, little things on it and decorations. And he sticks it into one of the cotton candy things. But I should say he first keeps knocking on a bunch of them. Like testing it. Like you do with an orange or a. Yes. Like a vegetable. Like is it ripe? And he, he finds one he likes and he sticks the straw end in.

[01:30:49] And then we watch it go all the way up the liquid out of it, up through this straw and into the clown. He likes it. This is chubby too, by the way, I don't think chubby. I think he was supposed to be in here. I think he's just like, you know what I'm going to do? I'm just going to go in and get a drink. So now I guess we're finding out that they are using these people as food. One of them said, maybe they stopped for a bite. Maybe they stopped for. But they find Debbie's balloon and. Yeah.

[01:31:18] Shoot her out of it. Yeah. Dave, Dave doesn't angle to the side and shoots her out of it. Um, and they're going to leave. They're like, Debbie's like, let's get the fuck out of here. And, pardon my language. No, that's your one. That's my one. That's my one. But, um, Debbie, uh, says, let's get out of here. But Dave suddenly says, wait, there might be other people alive. Right. In all these balloons. So Eric, just real quick, not to make this any longer. Yeah. So what's the deal? So cotton candy,

[01:31:47] they're obviously devolving into liquid or something in there. Yep. They're using them. What about the balloon people? What's going on? I think, my theory is that the clowns put the people that piss them off in the balloons. Oh. So if they, if you piss them off, they put you in a balloon to die. Yikes. Cause Debbie was there first. And they probably said, Oh, that's the girl.

[01:32:14] So my guess is they would have put Dave and Mike in balloons too. I think, or they use them as solid food and others. They just kill them for fun. They're just like, nah, we're not gonna, we're not gonna do anything with it. Like the popcorn monsters, their job is just eat them. Yeah. So I don't know. I think the popcorn monsters are just their little minions that can help out. So that's what I think. Okay. They're piss me off balloon. They're now gonna, they're getting out of there. And then now we're going to chase. Cause they're being chased by some clowns through tunnels.

[01:32:43] And we just get a bunch of different cool tunnels. Weird shit. They, they go through a, they go down a pole. They have to slide down a pole. This is one of my favorite bits. Cause, cause Dave has a shock and he kills two of them, but now he, now he's out of ammo for that. And the fireman's pole that they slide down. Debbie goes down first and they said, why didn't you keep going? And she goes, look, and it's a two second, if anything,

[01:33:09] shot of this fantastic monster underneath with a pipe is in its mouth. And it's just waiting for them. It's like, yeah, it reminds me of the tremors. Yep. Or, or the little thing that came out in, um, big trouble in little China. The thing that was like, what was that? But it was so quick. Yes. So really cool. And then, and then they go through like a, uh, a lizard, a colorful corridor with a, the, the,

[01:33:37] the beams are shaking from side to side. Because it's not a real quarter. They're just going through these side to side. Yeah. You could almost see him turn right. I know. I know. I know. Yeah. But then they go through like a lizard. It's like a snake with, you know, those fish. Lamprey, the lampreys. Yeah. They have the thing on the top. Yeah. And it's filled with balloons, which was cool, cooler than you'd think. You're like, what are these clowns? What is, why do they have all this shit? Well,

[01:34:06] because the balloons keep getting more and more in the quarter. So suddenly you can't see where you're going because there's so many balloons, but they, they kind of get through there. It's all really cool. And then they get to a thing where there's a, an end of a quarter and there's the clowns are coming. And I think the clowns have a, a little balloon animal guy. Yeah. Yeah. But they get to a door and it's the joke. The doors are getting smaller and smaller and smaller as they're opening another door. Yeah. I noticed that.

[01:34:37] Like, if you say another door one more time, another door. And then they get to a big, huge room that has like a platform in the middle of it. Yeah. It all, it looks like they're in what you would think the big top is. Like there's a couple more set pieces in here. There's blocks and then a blocks leading up to a big circle. So maybe that's where the guy'd be like, step right. Ladies and gentlemen. And I don't know when there's a hole in the top with lights in it. I thought,

[01:35:06] is that the top of the tent? I don't know what we're looking at, but. Well, but they're like, they're getting cut off because every direction they turn clowns just start coming out of the woodwork. Lots of clowns. A lot of new clowns. I think I read in this scene, there's like 40. Yeah. I don't know. Which 40? I read that. At least a dozen that you can. There's a lot here. Yeah. And they're all different. That's what I love. I stopped and paused. All the clowns are different.

[01:35:34] One clown has like rainbow hair, short rainbow hair. Like a bob. Yeah. One has like raggedy in hair. Yeah. And then they're armed. Yeah. They're armed. Yeah. Yeah. Well, they got no choice now. They got to, they got to go up on top of the blocks. And I, I think that the two ladies are there. Oh. Lady clowns. I think. Oh, lady clowns. Yeah. I think they were there.

[01:36:00] So I think it might actually be the only two female clowns on the ship. I don't know if they're male clowns or dressed as women or if they're actually. Well, my theory earlier was like, Eric, I didn't mention it. Maybe they put the women they get in the balloons, but we saw that they didn't with the hot girl with the wine glass. They know they know her in a balloon. She did. So I'm like, so, um, they're yeah. Looking bad for them. They're up on top of the diaz. No choice. But to go on top of the blocks. Yeah. And, and these things come with their,

[01:36:30] they get like everything from bats, like big, funny, inflatable bats with spikes to golf clubs. Yeah. We saw a golf club. Yeah. Golf clubs to hockey sticks. Yep. They got, they got everything. And then one has like a gun, but it's a really long gun, like a musket, but it's super long, but they, yeah, that's very zombie. Cause they're climbing up to get there. Yes. And they're surrounded by these clouds. And then ice cream truck bashes through the wall. Our brothers. Yeah.

[01:36:59] It smashes through like brick and stone. I don't, but the truck's not going to, I don't, what, but it's not moving anywhere. And when you see the brothers wish we could have seen what happened. I really wish we could have because PG 13 movie, I know, but it, they are, their clothes are ripped to shreds and they are covered in giant lipstick marks. Covered. So I just want to know, I want a short film on what happened in that ball pit. All right. I want to know. But they,

[01:37:29] they crashed through and they have the idea. I think we've neglected to mention it yet. On top of the ice cream truck that they've been driving. There is a clown head on top of the ice cream truck that they've been driving. It's Jojo's ice cream. So they call it Jojo. And they have a loud speaker system that they can talk through. Yes. And they start to do the wizard of Oz thing. I am the great and powerful Jojo. Yeah. The clowns are all of a sudden are like, huh?

[01:37:59] Huh? Like their gapy mouth open. And he says, let them, they let them go. And the clowns do. They let them get down and walk over to the ice cream truck. Yeah. But these guys, these clowns are smart. I think it's all bullshit. I think they know what's going to happen next. That's what I think too. But then we hear something else happen. Yeah. Yeah. That hole in the ceiling, right above where they were, by the way, they were standing on that platform. Yes. Yep. Through the ceiling,

[01:38:28] a giant prophecy sized clown. Prophecy bear. If you guys want to see that. Yes. Prophecy. We just did that a while ago. Yeah. It's a pro, a big ass. Well, Eric, can I just say, if you do want to listen to the prophecy. Ooh, at the climax. Yeah. If you do want to listen to the prophecy podcast, you can go to midnight cinema pod.com and check that out. Prophecy is an eco terror movie with a gigantic mutant bear. Ooh. And Eric and I have a fantastic time talking about that,

[01:38:57] but you can get all of our old podcasts there. Midnight cinema pod.com. You can listen to us as any podcast platform, Spotify, Apple podcast, YouTube. And while you're there, Eric, watch rate, review and subscribe. Yeah. And it really helps us. Eat popcorn while you're doing it, but be careful. Oh, that's true. So, well, yeah, that little, our climactic commercial break, but we're back and down is coming this giant clown, right? Mm-hmm. Giant.

[01:39:25] But it's a little new because it's a marionette clown. Yes. It's got the strings on it. Mm-hmm. It's huge. It's big. And vicious. Yeah. But this was supposed to be stop motion, I guess. This was their plan. Yeah. This was going to be a stop motion creature,

[01:39:53] but they just didn't have the budget or time to do it. I like the fact that it's a person in a costume. And they just do it. It ends up being good. It ends up being good. But I think it was going to be something different. Yeah. It's their Godzilla. It is. It's like, you know, he's got to be what? At least 12 feet tall, right? Yeah. And it rips off its marionette strings. Like, it is pissed off at that ice cream truck. Let me tell you, there will be no gods before me.

[01:40:23] This is, this is actually good. I have it by notes, Eric, because it picks up the ice cream truck and whips it. Yeah. But it looks good. Because it's the clown head. He's like, yeah, you think you're in a, I mean. When he picks up the ice cream truck and whips it, that's a, clearly a miniature model ice cream truck that they, but it looks really good. Yep. Good for them. It, I think it looks really good. I think it's amazing.

[01:40:53] Yes. And just in case anybody wants to know this clown affectionately is called clownzilla, I think. But when, when clownzilla throws the ice cream truck, Yeah. It blows up. Right. With the two guys in it. So they're dead. The Terenzi brothers are inside. Yeah. They're dead. It blows up. Yep. But there's a hole. There's a hole. So at least the three of them can escape. Yes. Well, Dave says, you guys go. I'm going to, I'm going to distract it.

[01:41:23] Sacrifice heroes. Sacrifice. Yeah. Yeah. And so Dave shooting at him. You would think Dave would aim for the nose. He knows that he knows. And this guy's got a big ass nose. It's like the size of a Christian basketball. Right. So what's your problem, Dave? You're not a good shot. You can't hit the nose on clownzilla. You know who could have done it? Mooney. Mooney would be like, I'll take care of this. Yeah. This tart. This little farty clown.

[01:41:52] So Dave and Debbie suddenly are outside. Yeah. Like, I mean, they just, I guess that actually gave him a shortcut to get outside because they're running through the parking lot. And then we see the guide wires that electrocuted the farmer earlier. They start going wang, dwang, and they're popping off the ground and they suck into the top of the big top. It's a really cool effect. And the big top's all, it's lit up now like a spaceship. And finally the cops show up like dozens of police cars, but yeah.

[01:42:22] But down inside we see Dave is out of ammo. Yep. And the big, big clown hand grabs him, picks him up. Roar. Eye level. Yeah. Clownzilla's got him now. And the spaceship's taking off and it looks like big top. Get it? It's a big top. It's a large spaceship spinning like that. So now you know why there was a big hole in the ground. So this thing must, that's where all those crazy rooms are is my guess. Yeah.

[01:42:50] It looks huge when it starts lifting up. Yeah. It's, it's gigantic. Yep. And Dave, we cut back, Dave's inside. Dave has an idea though. He's out of ammo. What do you do? Well, take that badge. He's got that badge. Oh, the cop badge? Then what? Yeah. Cop badge. And he takes it and he pokes the nose with the sharp edge of the cop badge. Oh, good call. So that nose goes, and that our clownzilla doesn't like that. It's like,

[01:43:19] and turns into the same thing. Yeah. And he explodes. And the ship explodes. The ship explodes. Big time. Fireworks. And I don't know why, Eric, but I guess they want to give the extras some reason for being there. But did you notice they have to show every extra having a reaction shot? Woking up. That one cop with the curly hair and the glasses. Yeah. So it's like, oh. Like we need people. We can't pay you anything,

[01:43:48] but we guarantee you'll be in the movie. You'll be in the movie. But so we're clear. Yeah. Dave's dead. Terenzi brothers. Dead. And all of the clowns are dead. They just destroyed the entire race of killer clowns from outer space. Well, then. So there you go. Everybody's dead. Then our clown car suddenly comes out of nowhere. What? And descends from the heavens and crashes onto the parking lot in front of everybody.

[01:44:18] Yeah. And out of the truck comes. Oh, it's Dave. Dave. Officer Dave. Unharmed. He is alive. Wow. Couldn't get any better than that. Oh. And who else is alive? Wait a minute. Does the brother, the truck, the ice cream truck. Yeah. All from the sky. Or is it? No, they come out of the clown. They come out of the car too. Okay. Yeah. Cause that thing blew up. Yeah. And it's the brothers.

[01:44:48] Also unharmed. Jarenzi brothers. And they have their big popsicle. Yeah. And they're all covered in ice cream. They said they hid in the freezer. So that's why they didn't die. Yeah. So we missed an entire scene where. Well, no, this was just. They're blowing up and Dave's like, come on, come on. Oh my God, you're alive. And they all get in the truck. Get in, get in. Right. Just as the other clowns are coming after him. Rawr, rawr, And then the whole thing explodes. You watch all the clowns exploding one by one. Right?

[01:45:18] Right. Yeah. And we just forgot that scene or what happened? But I think they said, this is, this is definitely test audiences were like, what? Like, or when he was screening it, they didn't, they didn't like Dave and the Terenzi brothers dying. Nope. They didn't. Yeah. So they just, so they decided to just reshoot the ending here. And, and, uh, it is the weird kind of, it's just kind of, yeah. And they're Dave and, um, Debbie and Mike. What's going on, Eric? What's going on here? Thruple now.

[01:45:48] That is a, okay. You caught that vibe too. Yeah. He kisses Debbie on the head and Mike's like, okay. Yeah. I mean, no problems that Debbie's back. She's like, Oh my God, Dave, I so want to have sex with both of you right now. Yes. Oh yeah. I thought what's going on here. Um, but, uh, but then, uh, confetti's falling sort of from the sky. Probably. And they're like, and you think, okay, here's our ending. Yeah. Right. They're all. Yeah. And I,

[01:46:17] you think it's over. I thought that's where we were going to go out. That's what she says. She goes, do you think it's over? Debbie says that. Yes. And they look up, all three of them look up. Mm-hmm. And they all get pies in the face. Just saying, and then it's done. Yes. No, no, no, no, no. I have to ask, are they dead? Are those three dead? Are these the acid pies? Did they get their faces melted off by those pies? Because I think that's what happened, right? Good point. They're dead. The clowns get the last laugh.

[01:46:46] They get the last laugh because those pies, acid pies hit all three of them in the face. Yes. And they, they're all dead. That's my guess. Sorry. So it's like, like a freeze frame and that's it. Yep. They're out. And then. Killer clowns. Yep. I like it. Killer clowns. That was killer clowns, Eric. It ends. No sequels yet to killer clowns. Nope.

[01:47:13] Which I was surprised because I think there's been momentum for a sequel for years, but they, they never, never get it together. that video game is going strong. So maybe. Yeah. There is a video game for those of you who watch this and want some more killer clowns. My kids, my kids play some video games, but I've never heard like, yeah, we played killer clowns. I don't think they even know what killer clowns are. Yeah. Eric, you're obviously a big fan. Yes. Yeah. Yep. I, I, it, I much enjoy it. Listen to me talking. I much enjoy it now.

[01:47:43] I sound like Mike on the car. Much. I enjoy it. Uh, it's great because if you take it for what it is and appreciate it for all the amazing effects and just the clowns themselves. Yeah. So cool. So, you know, they're touring at all of those places where they're signing autographs. I was shorty, you know? Um, but I, I think it's, it's definitely worth a watch and it's fun. It's a horror movie. I enjoy it too. It's a horror movie, but it's really about look how silly we are with special effects. It's pretty cool. Yeah.

[01:48:12] And I just appreciated that. For what it is, like you said, trying to show off the special effects. They really did just, they went all out with their list. They sat down with a list. What can we do? And they just kept doing it. They just kept coming up with things. And they could have had a bigger budget. They would have done more. We definitely would. Right to the very end. Yeah. And so inside that spaceship and the fights going on. Cause all the other clowns just disappeared. They're gone. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, they just found, I mean,

[01:48:39] everything from the party favors to the balloon animals to even the pizza gag, which I think was added later popping up out of the pizza box. It's like, it's, they just kept finding ways to do it. Yeah. I love the practical effects. You could still do that. You could do that now and it would work. Yes. Pizza effect. And they're very memorable. The clowns, they're very memorable creations. Yep. Uh, you don't forget them and there's just so many different ones and we're going to miss you. We're going to miss you. Shorty, slim, jumbo, Rudy,

[01:49:10] spiky, fat, someone chubby. We miss you in memoriam. Yeah. In memoriam, everybody. So Eric, what are we, I was thinking like, cause we never really came up with a rating system for our podcast. Uh, I was thinking about what you would do with a movie like this, how you would. Uh, rate it. I'm going to wrap you up in cotton candy and suck the life out of you because you, we do have a rating system. Oh, okay. I geez, I'm sorry. I'm just so busy. Yeah. It's like,

[01:49:39] this one's got seven out of 10 poo bears. Oh, dog. Oh, memorandum of poo bear. Oh, yeah. I would say that or the, the cotton candy award goes to don't eat it. Oh yeah. Yeah. Killer clowns. Yep. I just popcorn bucket award. Yeah. We, we give that out and now we got to watch out. We got to watch. Yeah. We got to be careful what we do with that popcorn. You don't want to eat it. Yeah. All right, Eric. What? I had a great time. Thanks for introducing me to the movie. I I've never seen it.

[01:50:08] So this is my first time watching killer clouds from outer space. Yeah. Sure. It won't be my last. No, I hope not. I hope not. And, um, yeah. So I fun. So Eric, um, is there, Oh, I see a big shadow on the wall there. It's a, it's a cool, somebody's doing shadow puppets. That's cool. Yeah. Look at that. Is that a, no, what is that? A bunny? Oh, Eric, that's fun. I get closer. What is that? Okay. Oh my God. That looks like, that's a definitely a T-Rex. Oh,

[01:50:38] it'd be a Blasaraptor. Wow. It's got to make a red. Yay. Oh my God. I'm in the stomach now. I'm going to Lisa's popcorn. Yeah.
